Help us get the word out about SKI Plano. As the biggest fundraiser for the Education Foundation, proceeds are used to help our students achieve their full potential by providing financial support to educators (you) and academic programs including: Grants to Educators, student scholarships (so all students can attend 5th Grade Camp), AVID, the Core Store for Teachers and many other initiatives that are important to our district.

Attending the gala is not the only way to help make this fundraiser a success. We have some ideas to give you some inspiration, and we hope you have some ideas, too. Here are a few of ours. read

Elementary students took part in mock elections

The habit of good citizenship begins early and voting for president is a big part of being a good citizen. Students at Meadows and Sigler Elementary Schools shared photos of their mock election of the President of the United States. There was excitement in the halls as each student got to take their registration card to the polling place and mark their own ballot. See photo gallery.

Williams High School teacher, Gerardo Luna, awarded 2016 LULAC Educator of the Year

Gerardo Luna with Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian Binggeli at the awards banquet

On October 27, Gerardo (Gerry) Luna was officially honored by the Collin County League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) as the 2016 Educator of the Year. Gerry is the social studies department chair / world history teacher at Williams High School as well as a 2015 recipient of the Diversity Leadership Award in Plano ISD.

Gerry was nominated for the LULAC award by Williams High School Principal, Gloria Martinez, who says, “He has such a huge heart for our students. Through his campus leadership, the social studies department has been a trailblazer in innovative learning and integration of technology in the classroom. Additionally, he has greatly impacted Hispanic male students by founding the Journey Club at Williams High School. He used this group as a platform to help foster their understanding of the importance of education, to give them incentives to stay in school through encouragement and to help them to acclimate to a college environment with field trips to university campuses. He even started a soccer team. Gerry is a strong, positive male role model to these young men.”

We sincerely, congratulate Gerry on this well-deserved honor. Email your congratulations to Gerry.
