Blind and visually impaired students visit University of North Texas

In October, a group of blind and visually impaired students from Plano ISD, along with a staff of selected certified teachers and certified orientation and mobility specialists, traveled to Denton to visit the office of disability accommodation at the University of North Texas (UNT) to help students learn what to expect, what they need to ask for in preparation for attending any college and a tour of the campus.

Statewide Conference Seal

The 2016 Statewide conference theme was Igniting the Flame Within: The Pursuit of Student Success - students want to achieve greatness, and it’s our job as educators to help them find the spark that will grow to greatness. After learning of Kristin's award, we took this opportunity to ask her a few questions.

What is your favorite part of your job as it relates to deaf education?

I love seeing the growth that the students make. Some may come to us in kindergarten with the language skills of a two-year-old, but they are flying by the time they get to middle school!
