Plano ISD Education Foundation invites staff and community to 'Ski Plano' January 31 at Southfork
This 19th wintry season, the Ski Plano Lodge will once again take over Southfork Ranch from 6:30 to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31. The casual and fun Ski Plano event is the annual fundraising gala hosted by the Plano ISD Education Foundation with event proceeds benefitting students and teachers through the many programs of the foundation. Education Foundation employee giving campaign Feb. 2-13

The "61 Thousand Reasons to Give" employee campaign to support the Plano ISD Education Foundation will be held from February 2-13. The campaign raises funds that will impact the lives of 61,000 Plano ISD students, teachers and staff through the foundation's programs. Campus and department coordinators will provide information and forms to employees beginning next week. Plano ISD named to prestigious 5th Annual AP District Honor Roll

For the second consecutive year, Plano ISD has been honored by the College Board with placement on the AP District Honor Roll. The honor roll recognizes districts for increasing access to Advanced Placement (AP) course work while simultaneously maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher on AP exams. Reaching these goals indicates that the district is successfully identifying motivated, academically prepared students who are ready for the opportunity of AP. band Rice MS band earns exclusive Sudler Cup
The Rice Middle School Ravens Band has captured the exclusive 2014 John Philip Sousa Foundation Sudler Cup, a prestigious national award typically presented to no more than one or two middle school bands in the world each year. Earning the award required an extensive evaluation process of the Rice band spanning several years. The Plano Retired Teachers Association (PRTA) will host a retirement education seminar on Saturday, February 28, at Sockwell Center. Registration will be held from 8 to 8:30 a.m. The seminar is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30

Teacher of the Year nominees to be honored at May 14 community gala

Seventy-two Teacher of the Year nominees have been selected by their peers at campuses across the district. These outstanding educators will be recognized at Plano ISD's Teacher of the Year Gala to be held the evening of Thursday, May 14 at Plano Centre.

An anticipated 1,100 guests will be in attendance to salute this year's nominees and "Excellence in Teaching" award winners at the gala, which will culminate with the announcement of Plano ISD's 2015 Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year. The top two teachers will be eligible to participate in the Texas Teacher of the Year competition.

2015 Teacher of the Year Selection Committee members will interview all teacher nominees in February and will make awards selections.

Teacher of the Year Gala Planning and Solicitations Committee members have begun meeting and securing generous monetary and in-kind gifts for the nominees and top award winners.
