Staff and community invited to Plano ISD's annual MLK tribute January 22 at Williams High School

Plano ISD invites the community to a tribute honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and a celebration of the legacy of the Plano ISD community. The annual event will be held on Thursday, January 22 in the Williams High School Auditorium, 1717 17th Street in Plano. Pre-program entertainment will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by a 7:00 to 8:15 p.m. program showcasing student performances and essay readings and awards presentations for diversity leadership and art inspired by Dr. King's legacy. read

School board prepares for state legislative session

The 84th Texas Legislature convened on January 13. In preparation, the Plano ISD Board of Trustees and district leaders prepared several legislative priorities, which include such topics as opposing vouchers, local control of the school district calendar, early childhood education and several funding issues. Foundation's annual Ski Plano event January 31

This 19th wintry season, the Ski Plano Lodge will once again take over Southfork Ranch from 6:30 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, January 31. The casual and fun Ski Plano event is the annual fundraising gala hosted by the Plano ISD Education Foundation. Event proceeds will benefit students and teachers. February 28 retirement seminar

The Plano Retired Teachers Association will host a retirement education seminar on Saturday, February 28, at Plano ISD's Sockwell Center, 6301 Chapel Hill Blvd., Plano. Registration will be held from 8 to 8:30 a.m. The seminar is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Employees are asked to e-mail PRTA's Donna Ratkowski at donnaratkowski@yahoo.com to RSVP. 2014 annual report highlights 'Loud & Clear' commitment to excellence

Plano ISD's 2014 Annual Report, "Loud & Clear," features the district's goals, school district and community statistics, a Class of 2014 post-secondary readiness report, financial information, bond program updates, community engagement highlights and achievements of the district, schools, students, faculty and staff.

To compliment the district's 2014-15 theme, "Loud & Clear," the report includes several videos that can be viewed directly from the online or print version via an Aurasma app or on Plano ISD's YouTube channel.

The report is available to read on the district website and will be distributed in print to school and department offices soon. Directions for viewing videos throughout the report are published in the book and on the district website.
