Achievements

District Teacher of the Year – Patt Henry (2007);  District New Teacher of the Year – Miguel Lopez (2007); STEM Teaching Award for Mathematics – Kelly Brooks; Orchestras earned "Sweepstakes Awards" at the UIL Concert & Sight-reading Contests and participated at the Orchestra Region and All-State levels, as well as receiving Superior and Excellent Ratings at the Local and State-Level Solo & Ensemble Contests; 9th grade boys' basketball A-team district champions; 9th grade boys' basketball B-team district champions; 9th grade boys' football A-team city champions; 1st-4th place winners in the district MLK Art Contest; LASER students attended the State Science Fair in Arlington, Texas; Regional Science Fair (WHS students won approximately $1000 in prize money); Annual CIS Warrior Cup Soccer tournament (50 participating students); two 10th grade students enrolled at TAMS UNT; Band received:  First Division Rating at UIL Marching Contest, Concert Band received an excellent rating at UIL Concert and Sight reading Contest, Symphonic Band received first division in sight-reading and an excellent rating on the concert performance and both bands earned first division ratings and were runner-up to Best in Class at the South Coast Music Festival in Galveston; All Region Band (4 students) and UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest (82 students earned first division ratings).
