The Child Nutrition Breakfast and Lunch Programs are designed to provide nutritious meals for growing children. Breakfast is available at selected schools and all district students may purchase a variety of hot lunch selections or fresh chef salads. Our breakfast meal provides one fourth the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for children and lunch provides one third of the RDA.

The Food and Nutritional Services (FANS) has actively taken steps to reduce the fat content of school meals to 30 percent or less as recommended in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

Funding

  • Plano Independent School District, Food and Nutritional Services Child Nutrition Program is 100% self supporting and does not receive local tax support.
  • Federal reimbursements, money paid by students, and a very small amount of state funds are the only sources of revenue.

These revenues pay for:

  • Labor and benefits
  • Food and supplies
  • Small and large equipment to deliver, prepare, and serve meals
  • Repairs and replacement costs of food service equipment

PayPAMS

PayPAMSOpens new window - Parent Account Management System - by PAMS lunchroom is the secure, convenient and friendly way to pay for your child's school meals. The PayPAMS online payment system allows parents to make credit card payments to their child’s lunch account via the Internet.  With this system parents can schedule automatic payments based on your child's account balance, view cafeteria purchases online and receive e-mail notification of balance status.

Point of Sale / Refunds

Automated point of sale systems have been installed in the cafeteria of all schools. Pre-payments for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and ala carte items may be deposited in the Cafeteria of your child's school. Students and staff members may purchase items sold in the cafeteria using their prepaid account. An account activity report may be requested from the food service manager. The district has developed an on-line payment option which also allows you to view your child's account activity, see PayPAMS listed above.

Refund Policy:  Students withdrawing from the Plano Independent School District may request a refund from the food service manager 3 days prior to leaving the district.  If the food service manager does not have funds available to refund the amount in your student's lunch account, a check will be processed through the FANS Office Manager.

The food and Nutritional Services recommends the following guidelines for the Plano Independent School district to consider:

Elementary:

Students are allowed up to two (2) reimbursable meal charges at a time. (When charges occur, a written notification to parents will be sent home). In the event that a child arrives without money and still maintains a current balance of two prior charges, a modified meal at a reduced price will be provided and additional charges will not be allowed until payment is received. (Modified meal: Peanut butter and jelly or cheese sandwich and a fluid milk)

 Secondary: (No Charges)

Under the (No Charge) policy, a student will not be allowed to purchase any meal on credit. In the event that a student is carrying a negative account balance or does not have any or enough money to purchase a meal for that day, a modified meal at a reduced price will be provided. Additional charges will not be allowed until payment is received. (Modified meal: Peanut butter and jelly or cheese sandwich and a fluid milk)
