Plano ISD Saddened by Loss of Longtime Superintendent Dr. H. Wayne Hendrick

The Plano ISD school community is deeply saddened by the passing of longtime Superintendent of Schools Dr. H. Wayne Hendrick on Wednesday, September 28. Dr. Hendrick served as superintendent for thirty years — 1961 through 1991 — leading Plano ISD through phenomenal population growth and change. READ

219 Plano ISD Students Recognized through National Merit Scholarship Commended Program

Among 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation, 219 Plano ISD seniors are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2017 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, these Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2017 competition by taking the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Chris Bragg, who served as board president elect of the Plano ISD Education Foundation during the 2015-16 school year will serve as board president of the Foundation for the 2016-17 school year.

"Our primary goal for this year is to fund about $1,000,000 in programs throughout the district. I also want to increase awareness in the community of the need for additional funding for programs such as AVID and Plano Family Literacy," said Chris. READ

  Plano ISD Education Foundation LogoThe Plano ISD Education Foundation hosted its annual CEO Breakfast on Thursday, September 29, at the Heart Hospital Baylor Plano. The mission of the Plano ISD Education Foundation is to help all students in Plano public schools achieve their full potential by providing financial support to educators and academic programs. Since 1993, the Foundation has generated private support for priority projects for which tax dollars are not available. Dr. Binggeli opened the meeting with three ways the business community can help: expertise, funding and materials/products. Along with area CEOs, Plano ISD School Board Trustees Tammy Richards and Yoram Solomon, Education Foundation board members and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian Binggeli, the robotics teams from the Plano ISD Academy High School and Plano Senior High School attended to share their robotic design processes, competition challenges and team success stories.
