Students are appointed to the Superintendent's Student Advisory Committee by principals at the senior high level. Students represent a variety of student activities and educational interests. Two Plano East Students Achieve Regional Finalists in Siemens Science Competition

A team of two Plano ISD students achieved regional finalists in the Siemens Science Competition. Of 498 national semifinalist,15 were from Plano ISD. From this group of semifinalist, 96 will continue on to the next level of competition as regional finalist. This elite group of regional finalist includes two students from Plano ISD -- twins Adhya and Shriya Beesam, IB World School students at Plano East Senior High School. READ

Plano ISD Students Sweep Texas Junior Academy of Sciences Competition

Plano ISD students competed in and captured many top awards at the Texas Junior Academy of Sciences (TJAS) contest held on October 20-21 in College Station. Of 16 first place awards, 14 were awarded to Plano ISD students. These students also qualify for a trip to the American Junior Academy of Sciences competition to be held in February, 2017, in Washington D.C. Of the six grand prize awards at this competition, five were captured by Plano ISD students.READ

Congratulations to all the participants and winners of the 2016-17 Fire Prevention Poster contest. This contest, which includes students in grades PreK-12 is held in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week as a way to give students a hands-on opportunity to teach the community about the importance of protecting families from fires. These winning posters will move on to the district competition and winners will be announced in March. READ

Visually Impaired Students Take Part in White Cane Day Festivities at Dallas City Hall

Vision support specialists in Plano ISD's department of special education, comprised of certified teachers of the visually impaired and certified orientation and mobility specialists, accompanied a group of blind and visually impaired students from Plano ISD to downtown Dallas to take part in the White Cane Day festivities at City Hall on October 14. Plano ISD Employees Give Generously to Assist United Way Agencies

United Way logoUnited Way agencies will benefit from more than $126,000 raised during the school district's United Way campaign, helping to ensure that critical services are available to individuals and families in need of assistance in North Texas. Once again the district exceeded its goal, thanks to the generosity of 2,809 Plano ISD employees. READ
