Two bus drivers and school bus

Transportation Services Focus Is on Students

This is School Bus Safety Week – a great time to reflect on the important service that our transportation department provides to our students and families. You allow us to transport your children, and we deliver them safely to school and home. Director of Transportation Services Andrew Forrester understands that, “there is an amazing trust between the school district and our school community.” Our transportation department works hard to sustain that trust.

Transportation staff do more than drive buses. They plan routes, communicate with parents, are safety experts and much more. Bus drivers are role models for students; they keep the safety of each student a priority; and they help students understand the bus rules so they feel secure. Drivers assist the disabled, stay on schedule, battle the weather and show up rain or shine -- all while keeping their attention on the road and students safe. The hours are tough. They may get up at 4 a.m. for the first routes, and if they are driving a field trip, it could mean a late night. Truly it takes exceptional people to do the job. We spoke to two of the best of the best, Jim Keller (left) and Mark Booker (right) in the photo above. With a combined driving experience in Plano ISD of 14 years more than a few students are familiar with these gentlemen. READ

Superintendent Dr. Brian BinggeliYou may have recently received your property tax bill from the Collin County Tax Office. This is true for most taxpayers, even though the Plano ISD tax rate remained the same as last year.

We want to explain what happens to the additional taxes you pay as your property values increase. It is important to know that not all of your additional school taxes paid will remain in Plano ISD. View and download recapture information. READ
