Plano ISD Proudly Salutes Our Veterans

Student artwork: American flag made of paper with words Freedom Isn't FreeThis week across the district small hands are waving flags as they celebrate with their family’s veterans – whether dad, mom, grandparent or special neighbor. Uniforms are worn. Taps is being played at flag poles while JROTC students stand at attention and the American flag is slowly raised upward until it catches a Texas breeze and unfurls. Crayoned stars and stripes festoon paper hats, and patriotic music is sung by student choirs and played by school bands who proudly fill auditoriums with the sounds of booming drums and piccolos. All of this, plus stirring video tributes to service men and women, can bring a tear or two to the eye of any American. Veterans Day is a time to remember those who have returned to us and those that have not; it is a time for gratitude. To the military veterans and their families of Plano ISD and beyond, we salute you. Please see our photo gallery of students, veterans and school celebrations.

Plano East Football Teams Goes to Playoffs

The Plano East football team has played a tough schedule and has had their share of injuries this year according to Head Coach Joey McCullough, but he’s pumped about the playoff battle ahead. After their loss to Denton-Guyer, he saw the team really get focused as they reviewed the game videos. The next game at Boyd was a 61-0 win for the Panthers. In October they scored 60 points a game or more in three consecutive games. Then they battled top-ranked Allen down to the wire with a loss, but beat Plano last week 40-39 in the last seconds of the game. “This team believes in themselves. But we take it one game at a time and one opponent at a time, and we’re putting everything we’ve got into the playoffs, ” said Coach McCullough. They play at 7:30 PM November 11 at Hebron High School. Good Luck, Panthers.
