Plano ISD Science Teachers Named Finalists
for 2014 Tech Titans of the Future Awards
Science teachers Dusty Vincer, Plano East Senior High School, and Deanna Shea, Shepton High School, were named Tech Titans of the Future High School Level Finalists by the Metroplex Technology Business Council. They were honored at a recent awards ceremony. “Only four teachers from the Metroplex were named as finalists for the Tech Titans award," noted Karen Shepherd, secondary science coordinator. "When watching Deanna and Dusty teach and talk about their students, it is evident why they received this honor." Read more

Instructional Focus: Grants to Educators Winners
Three schools presented outcomes of their award-winning grant projects at the Plano ISD Board of Trustees' September 2 meeting. The projects are among 85 innovative classroom programs that were awarded grants last fall by the Plano ISD Education Foundation. Details about Forman Elementary School's Forman Future Engineers, Armstrong Middle School's This is Your Life and Plano Senior High School's Contemporary Orchestra programs were shared by educators. Bowman & Murphy Middle Schools Honored at National Ceremony as 2014 Texas Schools to Watch
Bowman and Murphy middle schools were among the celebrated schools at a June awards ceremony held in Washington, D.C., for having earned awards in the 2014 Texas Schools to Watch recognition program. Attending the national celebration were campus administrators and teachers representing the two middle schools. Read more
September 8 & 9: Schools to Host College Nights
imageOn Monday and Tuesday, September 8 and 9, college nights will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Plano Senior High School and Plano East Senior High School, respectively. All Plano ISD students and parents are invited to attend college nights at either school, where 250+ colleges and universities will be represented. The Plano ISD Alumni Association will host tailgate parties this fall prior to football games at stadiums in Plano ISD. ANAmy Nelson, Plano ISD Council of PTAs president, accepted the PTA National Family Engagement Month resolution PDF on behalf of all Plano ISD campus PTAs at the September 2 board meeting.

Watch the September 2 school board meeting on PISDTV video. The meeting can also be viewed on Plano Time-Warner Cable Channel 99 and Verizon FIOS 33 at 8:00 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and on Saturdays at noon and 8:00 p.m.

Trustees will conduct a work session on Tuesday, September 16. The board has moved the location of work sessions for the 2014-15 school year from the Sockwell Center to the Plano ISD Administration Building.
