Students & Staff Celebrate Red Ribbon Week with Commitment to be Drug & Alcohol Free
All Plano ISD schools' students and faculty and staff members celebrated national Red Ribbon Week October 23-31 with all-school assemblies, guest speakers, rallies and theme dress days. The critical message of committing to a healthy, drug-and -alcohol free lifestyle reverberated across the district. Texas School Principals Month Spotlight on Liz Kirby
Beverly Elementary School's Liz Kirby has been a principal for 33 years and in education for 43 years. “I love what I do,” Ms. Kirby said. “To me, walking into a positive school environment is the best place you can be. And I think it is the most important place we can be. I believe that good schools and good teachers make a difference in the lives of children and families every year. I know that it is my responsibility to foster and support an environment that continues to make those differences.” Read more

Plano ISD Principal Intern Program Helps Cultivate Employees Motivated by Instructional Leadership
October is “Principals Month” in Texas, as proclaimed opens in new window by Governor Rick Perry. Looking at the administrative appointments from this spring, it’s apparent that here in Plano ISD we believe in cultivating our principals, assistant principals and administrative interns from our own “backyard” of campuses. School Board Update

The Plano ISD Board of Trustees will meet on Tuesday, November 4, at the Plano ISD Administration Building, 2700 W. 15th Street, Plano. The board will host a public input session during this meeting for the community to provide input on characteristics and attributes the board members should consider as they develop a candidate profile and select a new superintendent. Persons wishing to speak at the board meeting should complete and submit a special public comment card between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m. on November 4.

Trustees are scheduled to take action on the following agenda items. The full agenda, with links to supporting documents, is posted on BoardBook.
