The Park Place Lexus Grant Patrol traveled throughout the 100 square mile district in seven cars courtesy of Park Place Lexus Plano. As part of the surprise visits, each honoree was presented a poster proclaiming his/her selection as a 2014 grant recipient. More than 100 educators were recognized throughout the morning.

The Plano ISD Education Foundation Grants to Educators program is intended to help Plano ISD educators enhance instruction in schools and classrooms across the district. Earlier in the school year, teachers had the opportunity to complete grant applications for programs benefiting their classes, schools or joint programs at multiple schools.

Wilson Middle School teacher Jennifer Ramby was surprised in her classroom by foundation board member Jim McGee.

"Really good teachers impact lives. Few professions can claim that noble calling," said Plano ISD Education Foundation Board President Harvey Fishero. "The Grants to Educators program helps make our schools more effective, productive environments in which teachers can fulfill their professional calling. We are so appreciative of our business and community partners who participate in Grants to Educators as volunteers and donors. With their help, the Plano ISD Education Foundation is helping to strengthen teaching and learning district-wide."

Funding for the Grants to Educators program came from the following generous sponsors: Presenting Sponsor Park Place Lexus, Huawei, Alliance Data, Capital One, Flextronics, Plano ISD Council of PTAs, and the Plano ISD Alumni Association. Since the Foundation's inception, more than $1 million has been awarded to Plano ISD teachers through the Grants to Educators program.

Huffman Elementary School grant winner Hoda Abdel-Ghani's students will benefit from her winning grant "Ready-Set-Learn."

Grants are also funded through the Plano ISD Education Foundation Parent and Community Honor Roll annual fund drive and Annual Giving Campaign, the Plano ISD employee campaign and Ski Plano, an annual winter fundraising event open to the public. This coming year's Ski Plano event will be held on January 31, 2015, at Southfork Ranch. Information regarding the foundation and fundraising can be found online at or by calling 469.752.8272.
