On August 19, former Clark High School science teacher Kayla Olivas was named Tech Titan of the Future, high school, for her work in Plano ISD. This prestigious award recognizes one high school math or science teacher yearly for the development and implementation of an innovative teaching technique or program that inspires student interest in math and/or science.

Kayla recognizes that students learn best from different methods and at different paces. By incorporating different learning stations to facilitate student learning, her instructional style is reflective of her student's different learning styles. Karen Shepherd, Science Coordinator for Plano ISD Secondary Academics, describes Kayla this way, "Kayla challenges her students by incorporating a variety of learning strategies. She pushes her students to question science, to question the engineering process and to understand that failure is part of the scientific process. By doing this, she creates an environment where students arrive eager to learn!”

“The Tech Titans Awards Gala is the premier recognition of innovative companies and individuals who contribute to the vibrancy and success of the North Texas region,” said Bill Sproull, president and CEO of Tech Titans. “These pioneers are impacting tomorrow's technology today with their innovation, leadership and advocacy. Their groundbreaking advancements make a difference here and around the globe.”
