Trustees Select Superintendent Search Firm

The Plano ISD Board of Trustees held a special called meeting on December 7, at which they unanimously voted to hire Thompson & Horton, L.L.P. to conduct a superintendent search to help hire the replacement for Dr. Doug Otto who will retire on January 31, 2012. The board also appointed Richard Matkin, associate superintendent for business services, as interim superintendent, effective February 1, 2012. Holiday Helper 'Holiday Helping Hands'
Our Holiday Helping Hands video video features photos of several Plano ISD students, faculty and staff members across the school district who have conducted food, clothing and gift drives this holiday season in order to brighten the lives of fellow North Texans in need. Their generosity and helping hands will bring cheer to more than 55 families, including more than 170 children.

December 13 Meeting ~ Trustees held their regular meeting this week, taking action on the items listed below. View the agenda on BoardBook. Meeting videos are posted on PISDTV video.

2011 Holiday Greeting Card Art Contest finalists Lena Khanolkar, Hendrick MS; Nikki Shah, PWSH; Abby Christian, Hickey E.S.; and the contest winner Tiffany Mi, Jasper HS.

  • Recognitions - Holiday Art Contest Finalistsvideo,
    TBEC Honor Roll Schools, NCEA Higher Performing Schools & Texas ACT Council College Readiness Awards
  • Consent Agenda - Trustees approved several routine business items, like bids/purchasing/construction, budget items, advisory committee appointments and more.
  • Bond Issuance - The board adopted the parameters order authorizing the issuance of Unlimited Tax School Building Bonds and Refunding Bonds, Series 2012.
  • Budget Report - Richard Matkin, associate superintendent for business services, presented a budget report, which included enrollment, weighted average daily attendance, current year (2011-12) budget estimates and pro forma budget (2012-13).
  • Policies - Trustees adopted several policies related to board elections, board officers, grading/progress reports, wellness and health services, TASB localized policy manual update and other policy revisions.

Trustees' next meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. on January 17 at the Plano ISD Administration Center.
