Thomas Elementary School
Celebrates 30 Years of Excellence

James Lawrence Thomas, namesake of Thomas Elementary School, lived by the philosophy that, "Time alone did not change things, but in time people made the change." Mr. Thomas would be proud that, over the past 30 years, time has seasoned his school with educational excellence focused on citizenship, character and discipline, the hallmarks of his life as a Plano humanitarian and entrepreneur. Thomas family members, current and former faculty, staff and students gathered on the school's lawn on May 8 to celebrate the school's 30th anniversary. We invite you to be inspired by the Thomas Elementary School story.
Thomas Family members, honored guests at the school's anniversary celebration, included (back row, l-r) Cealee Thomas, Dollie Thomas, Elias Thomas, Kealei Oliphant, Tysha Oliphant, Kealyn Oliphant, Chase Thomas and James Brown; and (front row, l-r) Toni Thomas, Peggy Young, Betty Henderson, Sharon Thomas, James Thomas, III and Trevor Thomas. |

Jeff Bailey, Plano ISD deputy superintendent, has announced his resignation following 30 years of service to Plano schools. Mr. Bailey will depart Plano ISD late this month to join Rockwall ISD as its new deputy superintendent. “There is truly no way to measure the lasting affect of Jeff’s service to Plano ISD," noted Superintendent of Schools Dr. Doug Otto. "During the past three decades, he participated in rapid growth, bond planning and implementation, boundary changes and the operational management of many areas that shape our organization. I wish him great success in his new venture and will be eager to learn of his accomplishments in Rockwall. He has been of tremendous support and he will be missed.” |
