Plano ISD Middle School Educators Capture Prestigious Texas Instruments Foundation Innovations in STEM Teaching Awards
Teachers Stephanie Schinnerer and Michele Poovey (above, l-r) were presented 2009 Texas Instruments Foundation Innovations in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Teaching Awards during a surprise announcement at the Plano ISD Board of Trustees' April 7 meeting. Each earned a $5,000 cash award and $5,000 for classroom technology and professional development. Four additional teachers were recognized as finalists.

Rare Fossil Excavation Site Provides Amazing Lessons for Plano West Senior High Students
A once in a lifetime opportunity occurred this week at Plano West Senior High School with the excavation of an 85 million-year-old mosasaur (marine reptile) fossil. Student Liz Arroyos, who discovered the fossil, is pictured with Teacher Wesley Kirpach.
2009 graduating seniors are invited to join fellow classmates at receptions to be held in their honor at elementary schools across the district. The events will provide a time for seniors to visit with friends, take photos and share favorite "remember when" memories. Visit our website for a list of scheduled reunions.
School Board Update
Trustees held their regular meeting on April 7.

Trustees meet again for a work session on April 21 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sockwell Center.
