Olympic Gold Medalist Nastia Liukin Makes Surprise Vist to Alma Mater, Wells Elementary

Nastia LiukinPlano ISD's Wells Elementary School Tigers had plenty to roar about when former student Nastia Liukin, 2008 Olympic champion, made a surprise visit during their "Terrific Tiger" school assembly on March 11. The 19-year-old Plano native and gymnastics phenom was coached by her father Valeri Liukin to the all-around individual gold medal in Beijing last summer. Her visit to Wells put a little more spirit in the students' spirit assembly, which was attended by current and former Wells faculty and staff and Wells students. Ms. Liukin, who is currently studying international business at Southern Methodist University, is the focus of our exclusive photo feature.READ

School Board Election Update

Plano ISD will conduct its annual school board election on May 9. Candidates have filed for Places 6 and 7 in this year's election as shown in the chart below. Candidate Forums will be held in March and April. Early voting will begin on April 27. For more information, visit our School Board Election website.
