Superintendent of Schools Dr. Doug Otto, pictured with wife Bobbi and Ski Plano lead sponsor David McCall and his wife Sharon, proudly announces that the Plano ISD Education Foundation's Ski Plano fundraiser netted a record $200,000 on January 31 at Southfork Ranch. Mr. McCall's law firm has signed on to be the event's lead $35,000 Aspen Sponsor again in 2010.
Ski Plano proceeds, which included $150,000 in underwriting and auction and raffle sales, will benefit the Plano ISD Education Foundation's programs for students, teachers and schools.
Foundation Director and Ski Plano Chair Lisa Raskin shared the podium with Honorary Chair Brad Leland Williams (pictured, right), 1973 Plano High School graduate and star "Buddy Garrity" of the hit TV Show "Friday Night Lights," and Emcee Brian Jensen, managing director of global corporate communications for Cushman & Wakefield. Ms. Raskin and a team of community volunteers organized the most successful Ski Plano event to date, attracting 800 education supporters who enjoyed dinner, dancing to the live band "Third Party" and participating in silent and live auctions and fun raffles.
Among 11 fabulous live action items was the "Lexus Sampler Package," won by Kathi and Kevin Rupp (pictured). For their generous $10,000 donation, the Rupps will enjoy driving a different Lexus luxury vehicle each month for a year, compliments of Park Place Lexus.
The popular Avalanche Snowball Raffle resulted in winners collecting one of four fantastic prizes. A surprise raffle this year found guests grabbing up stuffed teddy bears which sold at $100 each for the chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree at The Shops at Willow Bend.
Ski Plano is the annual fundraising gala of the Plano ISD Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The Foundation's mission is to generate private support for priority projects identified by Plano ISD for which tax dollars are not available.
