Plano Regional Day School for the Deaf Wins International 'AG Bell Award'
The Plano Regional Day School for the Deaf was named "Program of the Year" by the international Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The Day School was selected based upon its auditory-oral education and intervention to the deaf or hard of hearing and their families. Fewer than 150 programs like Plano's in the U.S. focus on auditory-oral education.

World Affairs Council Honors Teacher
Nicole Vickerman, Clark High School World Geography team leader, has been honored by the D/FW World Affairs Council for outstanding work in sponsoring the Clark Junior World Affairs Council, writing curriculum and her studies abroad.
Five Music Groups Win National Awards
Five Plano ISD music ensembles have been recognized as national winners by Choice Music Events, which has published the results of its 2008 "Mark of Excellence" national wind band and choral honors project contests.
Academic Diversity Specialist Honored
Donna Hartman, academic diversity specialist, has been named "Educator of the Year" by the Plano Community Forum for her commitment to identifying a "talent pool" of diverse student populations for advanced academic programs.
School Board Recognition
Trustee Mary Beth King (center) captured the 2008 "Celebration of Leadership Award," from the Texas Association of School Boards' Leadership TASB Alumni for demonstrating exceptional leadership skills and contributing positively to her community and the state of Texas.
