Teaching
 Plano ISD welcomes student teachers and observers during the fall
and spring semesters. To request a placement for student teaching
or observing, please follow the guidelines and steps listed below:

Student teacher requests will be handled through Human Resources Services. Students or representatives of the requesting programs should NOT contact teachers or principals directly.

the Plano ISD for student teacher placement include:
Austin College
Texas Christian University
Dallas Baptist University
Texas Tech University
Texas Woman’s
University
Southern Methodist University
University
of North Texas
Stephen F. Austin State University
The University of Texas at Dallas
Texas A&M University - Commerce
Collin College
All student teacher candidates must be entering the final semester of the teacher preparation program; and, upon successful completion of student teaching and any other program requirements, be eligible for a Texas Standard Teaching Certificate. Plano ISD does not place student teachers in paid internship assignments.
PISD will not place student teachers from programs outside of the state of Texas.
Placement Timelines
Please adhere to the timelines listed below:
Student Teachers
Spring 2010 -- Applications must be received by November 1, 2009
Application will be available October 1, 2009 and must be complete by November 1, 2009
Fall 2010 -- Applications must be received by April 1, 2010
Application will be available March 1, 2010 and must be complete by April 1, 2010
Each student must have a program advisor assigned prior to submission of the application. Plano ISD does not provide or recommend program advisors or supervisors.
Application for Student Teaching Placement
Please complete the application for your student teaching request. (Application Launch)
When completing the application, it is not necessary to select a campus location as placements will be determined by HR Services Staff and are based solely on availability. Please select the Student Teacher option under location. It is the last category on the screen.
There will be a $1.00 application fee (collected at the Student Teacher Orientation)
Plano ISD ID Badge
- Badges will be issued at the Student Teacher Orientation after placements have been confirmed.
- Must be worn at all times while on the assigned campus.
- A fee of $10.00 will be charged for processing. The fees will be collected at the time the badge is made.
