9. Cooperative purchase of vehicles

Description:

Quotes for the following items were requested from Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Buy Board vendors. The recommended purchase meets the criteria set forth in the Educational Code Section 44.031, Local government Code 791, and School Board Policy.

Local government code, Chapter 791, enables the District to purchase goods or services through interlocal agreements. Staff determined that the Texas Association of School Boards, Buy Board, has available approved vendors for vehicles required by the Murphy Distribution Center and Security Police Services. These vehicles were competitively bid by the Buy Board.

Staff recommends the purchase of the following vehicles:

Department - Murphy Distribution Center; # of Vehicles-1;  Type of Vehicle - Cargo Cube Van;  Cost per Vehicle - $27,915.50
Department - Security Police Services; # of Vehicles - 1;  Type of Vehicle - Ford Explorer; Cost per Vehicle - $ 19,115.00

Recommendation:

The Administration recommends the purchase of two vehicles using the Texas Association of School Boards, Buy Board Cooperative for $47,030.50.
