Board Agenda - August 01, 2006

h. Selection of Architect and Construction Delivery Method

Presenter: Richard Matkin

Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required

Time: No time limit

Description:

Each recommended method meets the criteria set forth in the Educational Code Section 44.031, 44.035, 44.038, and 44.039.

In accordance with the Policy for Facilities Construction - Construction Contracts, the project delivery/contract award method providing the best value to the District is recommended as listed below.

The Williams Field House project was approved at the October 18, 2005 Board Meeting for the CM at Risk delivery method. Due to the size, nature and timing of this project, the Competitive Sealed Proposal (CSP) process is now recommended.

Additional work has been identified for Summer 2007 construction, including kitchen equipment at Jackson, Forman and Christie, and HVAC work at Forman and Mendenhall. The similarities of work and locations allow this to be combined into a single project.

Recommendation:
Williams Field House - Architect: SHW Group; Delivery Method: Competitive Sealed Proposal.
Kitchen Equipment/HVAC Upgrades - Architect:  WRA Architects; Delivery Method:  Construction Manager at Risk

Recommendation:

The Administration recommends that the listed Architects and Construction Delivery Methods for the projects listed be approved.

Business Impact:

2004 Bond Funds
