19. Replacement tractor for Facility Services

Presenter: Richard Matkin

Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required

Time: No time limit

Description:

Quotes for the following item were requested from TASB Buy Board vendors. The recommended quote meets the criteria set forth in the Educational Code Section 44.031 and Local Government Code 791. Local government code, Chapter 791, enables the District to purchase goods or services through interlocal agreements. Staff determined that the Texas Association of School Boards, Buy Board, has approved vendors available for the purchase of a replacement tractor for Facility Services. This item was competitively bid by TASB.

Zimmerer Kubota is one of the current vendors for tractors on the TASB Buy Board. The Kubota Model, L39TCB, is the model selected by staff to replace an existing 1979 Ford Tractor. This model best fits the requirements of Facility Services.

The dealer is offering a trade in value for the existing tractor of $2,500.00. This would reduce the purchase price to $29,932.00.

Recommendation:

The Administration recommends the purchase of a replacement tractor for the existing 1979 Ford Tractor using the TASB Buy Board Cooperative. It is also recommended to declare the 1979 Ford Tractor surplus and accept the trade-in value of $2,500 offered by Zimmerer Kubota to be applied against the purchase of the Kubota Model, L39TCB.

Business Impact:

Estimated Value: $32,432.00.
Budget/Financial Implication: Facility Services Operating Budget.
Evaluation Criteria: Purchase Price; Quality of Goods; Vendor Reputation; Best Meets the Needs of the District.
