14. #3736, Elevator maintenance
Presenter: Richard Matkin
Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required
Time: No time limit
Description:
Bids for the following items were advertised, received, and opened by the Purchasing Department. The appropriate department has evaluated all bids and forwarded their recommendation to the Purchasing Department to be reviewed for compliance with Educational Code 44.031 and School Board Policy.
This is a compliance bid that will establish an approved vendor and pricing for the monthly maintenance and repair of the District's elevators and wheelchair lifts. This is the first year of a renewable bid.
The Facility Services Bid Committee has reviewed this bid. The Committee recommends awarding the bid to the two vendors offering the lowest prices as a primary and secondary vendor.
Section I is for monthly inspections of all District locations to confirm that all of the elevators in the District are operable and meet the current code. Section II of this bid covers service work on an "As Needed" basis. A & F Elevator offered the lowest monthly inspection rates and has a good past relationship with the District. Overall cost per hour for maintenance and repairs for A & F may be slightly more expensive, but A & F offers faster response time and stocks a majority of the repair parts needed for the types of equipment owned by the District. Also, it is more cost efficient to have one company make the inspections and perform repairs with one service call.
A & F Elevator is recommended as the Primary Vendor. Evans Elevator offers the next lowest rates and has a good past relationship with the District and is recommended as the Secondary Vendor.
Tab sheet is attached.
