Board Agenda - June 06, 2006
7. #3726, Collision repair
Presenter: Richard Matkin
Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required
Time: No time limit
Description:
This is a compliance bid that will establish approved vendors and pricing for the purchase of collision repair for Plano ISD vehicles. This is the first year of a renewable bid.
Metro Fleet Collision Repair and One Stop Bus Stop were the only two companies that submitted bids for Collision Repair.
The Transportation Services Department reviewed the bids and recommended awarding the bid to Metro Fleet Collision Repair. The District has used Metro Fleet Collision Repair in previous contracts. They have a history of performing and conducting business in a professional and timely manner.
Staff does not recommend awarding Bid 3726 to One Stop Bus Stop, although they were the lowest bidder. The bid specification clearly states that all work should be conducted "in house" and that none of the work should be sub-contracted to other entities. (This stipulation keeps our vehicles in one location and lowers the liability risk of the vehicle.) One Stop has admitted that some of the work performed on District vehicles has been sub-contracted to other companies in order to get the work done. Staff also noted that One Stop does not have all of the necessary equipment to perform all repairs on-site and they have been slow to respond to requests for quotes and service.
Recommendation:
The Administration recommends awarding this bid to Metro Fleet Collision Repair.
Business Impact:
Estimated Value: $50,000.00.
Budget/Financial Implication: Various.
Evaluation Criteria: Purchase Price; Quality of Goods;
Vendor's Reputation; Best Meets the Needs of the District.
