e. Interim Approval for Surplus Disposal

Purpose: A - Request decision - closure required

Time: No time limit

Description:

Due to the large number and scope of the various renovation projects this summer, staff is expecting a large volume of surplus furniture, equipment, and other items. The District's warehouse space is very limited, and it is not cost effective to lease additional storage space for surplus items. Staff requests that the Associate Superintendent for Business Services be given interim authority to declare these items as surplus and have them disposed of in the most cost-effective manner for the District. This interim authority would be granted for the period of June 6, 2007 until the Board reconvenes August 7, 2007. The Board will receive a list of these items to ratify in August.

Recommendation:

The Administration recommends that the Superintendent's designee be granted the authority to declare items surplus and to dispose of them in the most cost-effective manner for the period of June 6, 2007 until August 5, 2007. These items will be submitted for ratification at the first Board meeting in August 2007.
