7. Cooperative/sole source purchases

Description:
Each recommended purchase meets the criteria set forth in the Texas Educational Code Section 44.031 and School Board Policy.
Listed below are items to be purchased, purchasing method, and estimated expenditure for the 2006-07 school year. The selected purchasing methods are cooperative purchases through the Texas Building and Procurement Commission Term Contract (TBPC), Texas Multiple Awards Schedule (TXMAS), The Cooperative Purchasing Network (TCPN) and Sole Source Vendors.
1) This purchase is the payment of tuition for 80 teachers to attend the Marilyn Burns Math Solution week-long summer math training. This is a sole source purchase.
2) The products from Benchmark Education will provide fluency instruction materials for grades 1st -5th and additional nonfiction reading materials for 6th and 7th grade. This is a sole source purchase.
3) The products from Mondo Publishing will provide paired nonfiction passages for 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students. This is a sole source purchase.
4) ASD Healthcare is the Texas Building and Procurement Commission's (TBPC) awarded vendor for Flu Vaccine. The District provides annual flu vaccinations for all employees. This is a cooperative purchase from a TBPC Term Contract.
5) This purchase is for classroom computer furniture that will be purchased for Schell Elementary School. Lam and Associates have provided the District's standard computer furniture for several years. The TXMAS cooperative contract offers the best value for this purchase.
6) This purchase is for books updating elementary library collections. The section of the Dewey Decimal Classification covered by this order is the 500's which covers Animals, Insects and Dinosaurs with a copyright date newer than 2002.
7) This purchase is for 175 band uniforms for Vines High School through the TCPN coop bid.
