Twenty-four Plano ISD schools have captured the National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Award, presented by the United States Department of Education. Six schools have earned the award twice.

Award Criteria

• strong leadership
• a clear vision and sense of mission that is shared by all connected with the school
• high quality teaching
• challenging and up-to-date curriculum, policies and practices that ensure a safe environment conducive to learning
• a solid commitment to parental involvement
• evidence that the school helps all students achieve high standards

The national award selection process involves an extensive written nomination, selection by a state blue ribbon committee and qualification for a site visit from a national blue ribbon panel of educators. The blue ribbon title is presented to elementary and secondary schools across the nation on a rotating, bi-annual basis.
