National
Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence
Twenty-three Plano
ISD schools have captured the National Blue
Ribbon Schools of Excellence Award, presented by
the United States Department of Education. The award
is based upon the following criteria.
- strong leadership
- a clear vision and sense of
mission that is shared by all connected with
the school
- high quality teaching
- challenging and up-to-date
curriculum, policies and practices that ensure
a safe environment
conducive
to learning
- a solid commitment to parental
involvement
- evidence that the school helps all
students achieve high standards
The national award selection process involves
an extensive written nomination, selection by
a state blue ribbon committee and qualification for
a site visit from a national blue ribbon
panel of
educators.
The
blue
ribbon
title is presented to elementary and secondary
schools across the nation on a rotating, bi-annual
basis. For more information, visit the
U.S. Department of Education's No
Child Left Behind website.
